Sample Itinerary » Santa Fe, New Mexico

» Sample two-day itinerary from our Fall 2011 Tiverton, Rhode Island workshop

Day of Arrival:

If you are traveling from out of state or out of country, please plan to arrive the day prior to the workshop start date. This will give you the opportunity to check in, relax, and start to enjoy Santa Fe.

Day 1:

Introduction to the workshop and to each other.
Why study creativity?
Your creative aspirations.
Exploring insights from your unique past experiences.
Your creative, present strengths.
Exercises in automatic drawing, writing, multiple perceptions, three dimensional imaginary worlds, sentence play, stream of consciousness, and reflective relaxation.

Day 2: Storyworker's Camp at Hamaatsa

At one time, we were all storytellers. All people everywhere belonged to an oral tradition. Join master storyteller, Larry Littlebird at Hamaatsa, a story gathering place. Learn to tell your story through a step by step "storywork" experience based upon tribal American spoken word legacy.

If someone asks you, "What is it that you do? What is your mission statement? What are you passionate about?" Are you able to share your story - confidently, gracefully, clear and succinct? Can you inspire others to join you, support your mission or collaborate with you? This bold story work will confirm and strengthen the story you've been hearing. Your story as social profit leader; change agent; activist visionary. Are you one or all of these? Then, only you can tell the story.

Day 3:

Your creative blocks.
Creative possibilities.
Developing a consistent practice for your creative development.
Exercises in finding inspiration, active listening, cultivating confusion, sense and question games, norm destruction, mandalas and map making, and collaborative creativity.

Day of Departure:

Please plan to depart either very late in the day on the last day of the workshop end date or the following day. This will allow you plenty of time to check out and to travel to the airport after the end of the workshop.

Note: The order and nature of the exercises used in each workshop may vary.
